K-pop idols that have performed in musicals and plays

Dance and singing skills make K-pop idols an ideal choice for the stage. While acting isn‘t something that comes naturally for all idols, a lot have the talent to be roles in musicals and plays. Are you curious about which actors have made the transition to the world of theater? Check out these six celebrities who have demonstrated their acting abilities.

Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun

We begin with Seohyun from Girls’ Generation. With a number of acting awards to her name, Seohyun is clearly a skilled actor. Apart from films and dramas, Seohyun has also starred in a variety of stage productions. The shows are “Moon Embracing the Sun” and “Gone with the Wind.”

SHINee’s Key

Key is a multi-talented actor. Key was not just born to excel in music videos, but also in musical theater. Although Key hasn’t performed on stage since the year 2017 He did have a number of breakout roles. The roles he played include Frank Abagnale, Jr. in “Catch Me If You Can,” Clyde in “Bonnie and Clyde,” D’Artagnan in “The Three Musketeers,” and Zorro in “Zorro,” to name several. He was even in the Korean adaptation of “In The Heights” by Lin Manuel Miranda.

As Key, Luna also starred in the Korean rendition from “In the Heights.” She has played Gabriella Montez in “High School Musical on Stage!” and Sophie in “Mamma Mia!” The most recent appearance was in the production of 2020-2021 in the musical “The Days.” Luna’s musical theatre career is one worth further exploring for the sake of seeing her credits for her role as Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde.”

Seventeen’s DK

In the year 2019 Seventeen’s DK made his debut in theater with the title of the King Arther as part of the show “XCalibur.” As a singer in Seventeen’s vocal unit, DK has a strong voice, which has earned him the part in the musical. In actual fact, DK was so successful in the show‘s production in 2019 “XCalibur” that he was chosen for the 2021 production.

The Grace’s Sunday
